Named as one of the Top Twenty Independent Artists since 2009 by the Young Filmmakers of the Philippines, Arnold Reyes is a most sought-after actor in the independent film industry. His film “Pisay”(2007), directed by Auraeus Solito, won the Grand Prix du Jury (Grand Prize of the International Jury) and the Prix du Public (Audience Prize) at the 14th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France. His short film, “Vendo” (2008), directed by Chris Martinez, was awarded the Silver Prize at the Southeast Asia TBWA Creative Directors’ Film Festival held at Bali, Indonesia. He has done several films under Adolfo Alix, Jr.: “Adela” (2008) with 2008 Cinemanila Southeast Asian Best Actress Anita Linda; “Imoral” (2008) with Paolo Paraiso and Katherine Luna; “Manila” (2008), a collaboration with Raya Martin featuring Piolo Pascual; “Karera” (2008), with Laurice Guillen, Rosanna Roces, Jay Manalo and Joem Bascon; and "Muli" (2010) with Sid Lucero and Cogie Domingo. Other upcoming films include: “Maria” (2009), with one of the Philippines’ most beautiful faces - award-winning actress Dawn Zulueta; and another Raya Martin film following “Independencia” (2009), with 2008 Cinemanila International Best Actress Angeli Bayani and award-winning theater actress Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino. His most challenging role to date was portraying Former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos in Carlo Cruz’ “The Forgotten War” (2009), which premiered in Korea. Arnold is part of Star Cinema’s “In My Life” (2009) under director Olive Lamasan, with John Lloyd Cruz and the Philippines’ Star for All Seasons herself - Vilma Santos. He is also in Nick Olanka's "Cinco" (2010) for Star Cinema. One of the talented cast of “Camera Café” (2007-2008), 2008 Asian Television Awards Best Comedy Programme - he also features in another comedy series for Euro-Asia Media Group Ltd - “You Women” (2008), with French producer Henri de Lorme and director Mark Meily once again at the helm. Born in Tondo, Manila, Arnold is the son of a public school teacher and a Manila Electric Company employee. At a very young age, he began acting at the Manila Metropolitan Theater, working with some of Philippine Theater’s most respected actors like Chinggoy Alonso, the late Rey Ventura, Pen Medina, and Dido dela Paz. Thereafter, he worked with some of the Philippines’ top theater companies such as Chase International, Bulwagang Gantimpala, Tanghalang Pilipino, Dulaang UP, PETA, Tanghalang Ateneo, Atlantis Productions, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Outreach Program. Arnold received a nomination for Best Stage Actor in a Non-Musical at the 21st Aliw Awards for his performance in the play "Ang Bayot, ang Meranao at Ang Habal-Habal sa Isang Nakababagot na Paghihintay sa Kanto ng Lanao del Norte" (2008) under the direction of Nick Joseph Olanka. He won the 2009 Cinemalaya Cinco Best Supporting Actor Award for his stirring portrayal of a Chinese mestizo coming to terms with his identity in GB Sampedro's "Astig" (2009). His recent film is "Graceland" (2010), written and directed by Ron Morales. For Cinemalaya 2011, he has one entry under the direction of Adolfo Alix, Jr. - "Isda" for the Directors' Showcase. He is also currently taping for ABS-CBN'S "Precious Hearts Romance - Hiyas" (2011) and "Good Vibes" (2011).
